Don't Call 9-1-1
as a Joke
The equipment we have will tell us
where the call is coming from. We are required to attempt to verify whether
or not there is an emergency. If this can't be done, we will send a Deputy
or Police Officer out to check.... If there isn't, you may have delayed
them from responding to a REAL emergency. Abusing 9-1-1 in this manner
could cost someone else their life!
It is a criminal offense to intentionally
abuse 9-1-1.
Call 9-1-1 only to report an emergency.
Don't Call 9-1-1
to ask for Information
Directory Assistance is 4-1-1. Or call
the non-emergency number to the public safety agency you are trying
to reach. It's listed in your phone book. Please take the time to write
the non-emergency numbers in the spaces provided on the inside of the back
cover.
Call 9-1-1 only to report an emergency.
Don't call 9-1-1
just to see if it works.
Dialing 9-1-1 ties up the telephone
company's equipment, and during emergencies the system can become overloaded.
This could prevent someone from getting help.
Call 9-1-1 only to report an emergency.
Don't call 9-1-1
about loud music, barking dogs, or power outages.
Loud music or noisy animals should
be reported on the non-emergency lines.
We probably don't know why your power
went out, and we certainly don't know how long before it is back on. Call
the power company.
Call 9-1-1 only to report an emergency.
DID YOU KNOW THAT A 9-1-1 CALL FROM A PAYPHONE IS FREE?
(THIS DOESN'T MAKE IT OKAY TO CALL 9-1-1 FROM A PAYPHONE WHEN YOU DON'T HAVE ANY MONEY AND NEED NON-EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE)
