THE GREAT ROAD TRIP

APRIL 27 - MAY 09, 2006

DAY 12, Monday, May 8, 2006

Up and out by 10am, and on the road. I stopped at the Painted Desert/Petrified Forest National Park. Colorful, but not as bright as I was expecting, and not as colorful as some of the pictures on signs in the park itself! Still, very impressive. The forest was a bit eerie... rock that replaced wood over time. You could even see rings in the trunks of the trees. One displayed the bark and heart of it's tree, it was very real looking! Off to Meteor Crater. I took the rim walk tour, and got sunburned. My hat didn't do much to protect my face! I'm bright red tonight. The walk was good, we got to walk around part of the rim, and learn a bit of the history of the crater. Another big hole in the ground! ;-) Tonight at the Day's Inn in Kingman, Arizona. The desk clerk there... OMG. Young, cute, blonde... come tuck me in! Oh well.... tomorrow, Hoover Dam, and home!
